A Bespoke Career with Constellation Brands

VP of Global Accounting

Thomas McCorry joined Constellation Brands in 2004 as a Director and then served as Vice President of Global Accounting. In this role, McCorry managed the global consolidated accounting close process for the $3.6 billion publicly traded company, as well as streamlined operations by reducing the overall time to close by eight days while enhancing the quality of reporting and establishing robust internal controls. He also spearheaded the development of global cash flow reporting processes, consolidating multi-currency statements and cutting preparation time by 10 days. His efforts ensured greater efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across financial operations.

Additionally, McCorry completed extensive accounting research on complex transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and derivative instruments, significantly reducing reliance on external consultants. He led fair value purchase price allocations for multiple $1 billion+ acquisitions, foreign and domestic acquisitions, and authored global accounting policies and procedures that standardized financial processes across divisions. By centralizing global intercompany transaction processing, McCorry eliminated out-of-balance errors and improved processing times. His work extended to overseeing global general ledger governance standards, directing compliance with US GAAP for domestic and international divisions, and actively participating in designing and implementing a new global ERP system.

VP of FP&A – Wine & Spirits, VP of Commercial Finance – Wine & Spirits

In 2012, McCorry became Vice President of FP&A – Wine & Spirits. He was responsible for directing the strategic and annual planning process for the U.S. Wines & Spirits business with $2.7 billion in profit.

Two years later, he accepted the role of Vice President of Commercial Finance – Wine & Spirits, which he held for three years. In this position, McCorry was instrumental in driving strategic financial planning and operational excellence. He developed market-level annual financial and operating plans designed to achieve revenue growth, market share expansion, optimal brand mix, and gross margin improvements. By centralizing approximately $150 million of non-price investments and implementing a zero-based budgeting process, he enhanced visibility, efficiency, and alignment with critical commercial priorities, resulting in a significant return on investment. McCorry’s leadership extended to directing monthly financial closings, forecasts, and reporting, providing the sales leadership team with actionable insights to align financial performance with organizational goals.

He also played a pivotal role in introducing innovative financial metrics that created a stronger alignment between sales performance and company financial results, delivering comprehensive training to the sales organization. By implementing a cloud-based forecasting solution, he unified regional sales, S&OP data, and historical trends into dynamic monthly forecasts, significantly improving forecast accuracy. Additionally, McCorry restructured the sales finance organization, creating a shared services model that streamlined processes and supported both organic growth and acquisitions without increasing headcount. His contributions extended to strategic planning, acquisitions, and board-level reporting, where he delivered insights into financial trends, business performance, and investor relations, ensuring alignment between financial strategy and organizational objectives.

McCorry later served as Chief Audit Executive and Senior Vice President & Controller until returning to the Wine & Spirits Division as Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, where he partnered with a new leadership team to redefine an executive division strategy following the $1 billion divestiture of low-end brands, driving improved focus and investment against high growth segments including direct to consumer and specific international markets. He eliminated nearly $100 million of stranded fixed costs across SG&A, operations, sales, and marketing to enhance margins and enable incremental investment in growth. McCorry built a new pricing execution team and revenue counsel, resulting in a 500% increase in price realization within two years.

Senior VP, CFO, Beer Division

From 2021 until late 2023, Thomas McCorry served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Beer Division, an $8 billion revenue business with nearly $3 billion in profit and large-scale production operations in Mexico and commercial operations in the U.S. During his tenure in this role, McCorry led initiatives that significantly optimized capital investment and operational efficiency, reducing planned capacity investments by $1.5 billion (30%) over three years by aligning commercial demand, supply planning, and engineering efforts. He improved visibility and decision-making through enhanced governance and controls over the capital planning and approval process, reduced capital expenditures, and enhanced structural margins by 30 to 40 basis points. Additionally, he formalized a multi-year cost efficiency strategy across a $3 billion operations footprint, mitigating cost inflation and driving sustainable margin improvements.

Beyond financial outcomes, he strengthened cross-border collaboration within the finance organization, implementing the first expatriate program to enhance employee engagement and development. This initiative resulted in an 8-point increase in engagement scores, reduced turnover, and lower recruiting costs. He also partnered with the strategy team to redefine the global integrated business planning process, improving alignment, investment prioritization, and organizational focus on strategic initiatives. These efforts were complemented by McCorry’s active participation in investor relations, presenting the beer strategy at investor events and shaping the narrative for quarterly earnings calls.

Prior to joining Constellation Brands, McCorry worked in public accounting for seven years at Big 4 firms PricewaterhouseCoopers and Andersen.
